Uses of 'Used to':
जैसा कि हम जानते हैं कि 'Used to' का इस्तेमाल पिछली चीजों को सन्दर्भित करने के लिए किया जाता है, जिनके लिए हम आदी थे। इस में 'Used to' के दो अलग उपयोग हैं:
As we know now that the expression 'Used to' is used to refer to past things to which we were accustomed to. There are two distinct uses of 'Used to' in this:
To talk about past habits.
अतीत की उन आदतों को संदर्भित करने के लिए हम 'यूज्ड' का उपयोग करते हैं, जिनके हम भी आदी थे। इसका मतलब है कि हम अपनी आदत के अनुसार बार-बार कुछ काम कर रहे थे जो शायद अब मौजूद नहीं हैं।
We use 'Used to' to refer to the habits of the past to which we were accustomed to. It means that we were doing some work repeatedly according to our habit, which may not exist anymore.
Look at the following examples:
| वह हर दूसरे दिन रात का खाना छोड़ दिया करता था। | He used to skip dinner on alternate days. |
| वह मीलों सैर किया करता था। | He used to walk for miles. |
| वे अपने जन्मदिवस पर नाचते और गाते थे। | They used to sing and dance on their birthday. |
| शान्तुर हर हफ़्ते आइसक्रीम लाया करता था। | Shantur used to bring ice cream every week. |
| मेरी मां मुझे पढ़ने के लिये बिठाया करती थी। | My mother used to make us sit for studying. |
| हम भाई छोटी छोटी बातों पर आपस में लड़ा करते थे। | We brothers used to fight among ourselves on trifles issues. |
| हमारी बहन हमारी शिकायत किया करती थी। | Our sister used to complain about us. |
| कभी कभी वह लम्बी चौड़ी हांका करती थी और झूठ बोलती थी। | Sometimes she used to exaggerate and tell a lie. |
| प्रिया हमेशा अपने खाली समय के दौरान एक कहानी की पुस्तक पढ़ा करती थीं। | Priya used to read a storybook during her free time. |
| हम देव आनंद की फिल्मों को देखने के लिए कॉलेज से बंक मारा करते थे। | We used to bunk college to watch all Dev Anand movies. |
| मुझे याद है कि आप स्कूल की गायक मंडली में गिटार बजाया करते थे। | I remember that you used to play the guitar in the school choir. |
| अपने वेतन के दिन मेरी मां हमारे लिए चॉकलेट और आइस-क्रीम लाया करती थी। | On her salary day, my mother used to bring chocolates and ice-creams for us. |
