Adjectives

How to identify adjectives in a sentence?

यद्यपि हम संज्ञा की विशेषता बताने के उनके कार्य द्वारा विशेषणों की पहचान कर सकते हैं, लेकिन कुछ संकेत हैं जो हमें उन्हें बेहतर पहचानने में मदद कर सकते हैं।

Although we can identify adjectives by their function of modifying the noun, there are some pointers that may help us identify them better.

1. The position of the adjective in a sentence.
विशेषण आमतौर पर उन संज्ञाओं से पहले आते हैं जिन्हें वे वर्णन करते हैं या संशोधित करते हैं। हम देखेंगे कि इस तरह के वाक्यों में इससे पहले आर्टिकल a, an, the आता है। Adjectives usually come before the nouns they describe or modify. We will notice that in such sentences there is an article a, an, the preceding it.
वह एक मेहनती आदमी है। He is a hardworking man.
सुनीता एक शिष्ट कलाकार है। Sunita is a fine artist.
कुछ क्रियाओं के बाद विशेषण भी आ सकते हैं, जैसे be verbs, seem, look, feel। यहां क्रियाएं कोई एक्शन नहीं दिखा रही हैं। Adjectives may also come after some verbs like, be verbs, seem, look, feel. Here the verbs are not showing any deliberate action.
यह कंबल गर्म दिखता है। The blanket looks warm.
मुझे खुशी महसूस हो रही है। I feel happy.
रिया थक गयी लगती है। Ria seems tired.
मेरी बहन लंबी है। My sister is tall.
2. By the degree of Comparison.
सकारात्मक डिग्री - सकारात्मक डिग्री तब होती है जब कोई संज्ञा (व्यक्ति, स्थान या चीज) और गुणवत्ता होती है और कोई तुलना नहीं होती है। इसे विशेषण के आधार रूप के रूप में भी जाना जाता है और इसका उपयोग संज्ञा का वर्णन करने के लिए किया जाता है न कि संज्ञा की तुलना करने के लिए। Positive Degree - Positive degree occurs when there is a noun (person, place or thing) and quality and there is no comparison. It is also known as the base form of an adjective and is used to describe a noun and not to compare a noun.
हम आम तौर पर संज्ञा के सामने एक अनिश्चित आर्टिकल 'a, an' का उपयोग करते हैं या 'as' का उपयोग कहने के लिए करते हैं कि कुछ इतना अच्छा है जितना कि दूसरा है। We usually use an indefinite article 'a, an' in front of the noun or use 'as' to say something is as good as the other.
अभी टीवी पर एक कॉमेडी फिल्म आ रही है। There is a comedy movie coming on Tv now.
यह डिनर-सेट दूसरे के समान ही अच्छा है। This dinner set is as good as that one.
