Past Continuous Tense

Use of Past Continuous Tense - Persistent or past habitual action

Past Continuous Tense का प्रयोग always, continually व constantly जैसे शब्दों के साथ एक निरंतर क्रिया या एक पुरानी आदतन क्रिया को व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है जो अक्सर होती थी। टेन्स का उपयोग किया जाता है। यदि वाक्य के अंत में 'रहा, रही, रहे न होने पर भी यदि वाक्य का अर्थ हो कि क्रिया जारी थी, तब भी पस्त कंटिन्युवस टेन्स का प्रयोग होता है।

Past Continuous Tense is used to express a persistent action with words always, continually व constantly, etc. or an old habitual verb that was frequent. Even if the sentence means that the action was occurring or in progress, Past Continuous Tense is used.

Look at these sentences:

वह हमेशा उसकी आलोचना करती थी।	She was always criticising her.
मैं अपने परिवार के सदस्यों की लगातार सराहना कर रहा था।	I was constantly appreciating my family members.
वह हमेशा कराहता रहता था।	He was always groaning.
हम लगातार उसका मनोबल बढ़ा रहे थे।	We were continually boosting her morale.
वह एक कतार में खड़ी थी।	She was standing in a queue.
हम पार्क में बैठे थे।	We were sitting in the park.
उसने गुलाबी साड़ी पहन रखी थी।	She was wearing a pink saree.
कॉन्स्टेबल ने चोर की गर्दन पकड़ रखी थी।	The constable was holding the thieve's neck.
