Uses of 'A/An'
Look at the following to understand the use of Articles - A/N
8 | हम कुछ शब्दों (many/rather/quite/such) के बाद A/An का उपयोग करते हैं, अगर यह एकवचन संज्ञा से पहले आता है। | We use A/An after certain words (many/rather/quite/such), if it comes before a singular noun. |
Examples: Many a times, quite an easy question, such an intelligent boy, rather a lovely place. | ||
9 | यदि कोई विशेषण संज्ञा से पहले आता है, तो उस विशेषण से पहले A/An का उपयोग किया जाता है। | If an Adjective comes before a singular noun, then A/An is used before the Adjective. |
Examples: She is a beautiful girl, He is not a good person, He is an intelligent boy, She is an honest minister. | ||
10 | हम उस एकवचन संज्ञा से पहले A/An का उपयोग करते हैं जो किसी जाति / वर्ग को व्यक्त करता है। | We use A/An before a singular noun which refers to a class of things. |
Examples: An orange is rich in vitamins. A dog is an animal. A parrot is a bird, I am a journalist, She is an Indian. | ||
11 | हम कुछ वाक्यांशों के लिए A/An का उपयोग करते हैं। | We use A/An for some Phrases. |
Examples: a lot of, a few, a little, a couple of days, to a great extent, etc. |
Look at the examples:
वह एक इंजीनियर है। | She is an engineer. |
आप पोस्टमैन नहीं हैं। | You are not a postman. |
आपकी माँ दूसरी झाँसी की रानी हैं। | Your mother is a second Jhansi ki Rani. |
उसका नाजुक दिल है। | She has a delicate heart. |
चांदी एक नरम धातु है। | Silver is a soft metal. |
यह एक रोमांचक किताब है। | It is an exciting book. |
बिल्ली एक वफादार जानवर नहीं है। | Cat is not a faithful animal. |
कभी झूठ मत बोलना। | Never tell a lie. |
वह एक ईमानदार साथी है। | He is an honest partner. |
मेरा दोस्त एक एम.एल.ए. है। | My friend is an M.L.A. |
उसे सिरदर्द है, और मेरे हाथ में चोट लगी है। | She has a headache, and I have an injury in my hand. |
अभी सवा नौ बजे हैं। | It is a quarter past nine now. |
उसने भिखारी को एक रुपए का नोट दिया। | She gave a one-rupee note to the beggar. |
राजस्थान में मेरे कुछ मित्र हैं। | I have a few friends in Rajasthan. |
