An easy Way to learn English

Subject-Verb Agreement

We have learned that we select a verb according to the number/person of the subject. We select the singular verb for the singular subject and the plural verb for the plural subject. The selection of a verb according to the number/person of the subject is known as agreement.

It is essential to learn the use of Verb with each Parts of Sentence - Subject, Noun, Pronoun, Preposition, Conjunction etc. There are different rules which we must learn to achieve command over English.

Rules:

जब दो अलग अलग noun, वाक्य में एक ही सब्जेक्ट के लिये प्रयुक्त हो तो, singular verb का प्रयोग होता है।

When two different nouns in a sentence are used for same subject, singular verb form is used.

1. The writer and the economist has met with an accident.
2. The leader and the actor has won the election.
3. The Director and professor has resigned today.
4. The speaker and the artist mesmerized the audience.

Agreement में कई नियम हैं। हम आवश्यक नियमों का नीचे वर्णन कर रहे हैं। कृपया अंग्रेजी को बेहतर ढंग से सीखने के लिए नियमों को बार-बार पढ़ें और समझें।

There are several Rules in the Agreement. We describe below the essential Rules. Please read and understand the rules, again and again, to learn English better.

1. जब वाक्य में दो अलग अलग noun एक ही सब्जेक्ट के लिये प्रयुक्त हो तो singular verb का प्रयोग होता है। When two different nouns in a sentence are used for the same subject, the singular verb form is used.
एक लेखक व अर्थशास्त्री की दुर्घटना हुई है। The writer and economist has met with an accident.
एक नेता व अभिनेता चुनाव जीत गया है। The leader and actor has won the election.
निदेशक व प्रोफेसर ने आज इस्तीफा दे दिया है। The Director and professor has resigned today.
एक वक्ता व कलाकार ने दर्शकों को मंत्रमुग्ध कर दिया। The speaker and artist mesmerized the audience.
Note: जब उनसे पहले Article या डिटर्मिनर्स (my, our, your) लगा हो तो दो अलग व्यक्ति का बोध होता है और प्लुरल वर्ब आती है. When an article or Determiners (my, our, your) are placed before them, then there is a sense of two different people, and a plural verb comes.
