Past Perfect Tense

It is used to express an action which has happened or completed in past (usually a long time ago). In this tense, time should not come. If time is mentioned in the tense, then it will become past indefinite tense.
Note Words like till, by then, before, by today/yesterday/evening etc. are normally used in Past Perfect Tense.
The patient had died. –Past perfect tense.
The patient died at 3 pm - Past Indefinite (Because time has come in the sentence.)

Past Perfect Tense kee pahachaan - Vaakya ke ant meiN ‘aayaa thaa’, ‘gayaa thaa’ ‘chukaa thaa’,’ chukee thee’ ‘chuke thay’ aadi kaa prayog hotaa hai. Aise vakoy meiN samay kaa prayog nahee aanaa chaahiye. Agar samar kaa prayog ho to un vaakyo ko past indefinite kahate hai.
Past Perfect Tense ke vaakyo meN, abhee tak, tab tak, pahale, kal tak, shaam tak, aadi shabdoN kaa prayog ho sakataa hai. Mareej mar chukaa thaa. – Past Perfect Tense.
Mareej teen baje mar chukaa thaa. - Past Indefinite Tense (Kyonki vaakya meiN samay aayaa hai)

In Past Perfect Tense, helping verb 'Had' is used. 3rd Fom of Verb is used in all types of sentences of Past Perfect Tense.


Past Perfect Tense meiN helping verb 'Had' kaa prayog hotaa hai aur Verb kee 3rd form isake sabhee prakaar ke vaakyo meiN istemaal hotee hai.

Past Perfect Tense - Positive Maine sabako bhed bataa diyaa thaa.

Ist person I Had disclosed the secret to all.
Ist Person -Plural We Had disclosed the secret to all.
2nd Person You Had disclosed the secret to all.
3rd Person -Singular He/She/It/Ram Had disclosed the secret to all.

In Negative sentence of Past Perfect Tense, 'Not' is added just before Verb(3rd form).

Past Perfect Tense ke nakaaraatmak vaakya meiN 'Not' ko verb se pahale lagaate hai.

Past Perfect Tense - Negative Tumane mere boss ko suchit nahee kiyaa thaa.

Ist person I Had not informed my boss.

Interrogative sentence of Past Perfect Tense starts with 'Had'. 3rd form of Verb is used in all types of its sentences.

Past Perfect Tense ke prashnavaachak vaakya 'Had' se shuru hote hai aur isame Verb kee 3rd form istemaal hotee hai.
