Direct Indirect Speech - Sentences with Let

Rule

Like Imperative sentences, use of 'Let' in the sentences of Let has different meaning and in Reporting Verb 'Said To' is replaced according to the notion of the sentence with words like - Proposed, Suggested, Requested, Ordered, Wished, Told, etc.
If the meaning of 'Let Sentence' is a suggestion, proposal or wish then for making Indirect Speech (1) 'Said To' is replaced with 'Proposed To / Suggested To / Wished To', (2) 'Let' is replaced with 'Should'. 'Should' comes after the Pronoun. and (3) 'That' is used to join both the parts of the sentence.

If the meaning of 'Let Sentence' is to allow, order or persuade then for making Indirect Speech (1) 'Said To' is replaced with 'Requested To / Ordered To', (2) 'Let' may remain in the sentence or it may be replaced with 'Allow' and (3) 'To' is used to join both the parts of the sentence.

If condition or supposition comes in 'Let Sentence' then for making Indirect Speech (1) 'Said To' is replaced with 'Told', (2) 'Let' is replaced with 'Might' and (3) 'That' is used to join both the parts of the sentence.

Imperative sentence kee tarah, 'Let' se shuru hone waale vaakyo meiN 'Let' se kai arth nikalate hai aur Reporting Verb meiN 'Said To' ko vaakya ke bhaav ke anusaar nimnprakaar ke shabdoN se badalaa jaataa hai - Proposed, Suggested, Requested, Ordered, Wished, Told, etc.

Yadi 'Let' kaa arth 'Sujhaav, prastaav, ichchhaa' hai to (1) 'Said To' ko 'Proposed To / Suggested To / Wished To' se badalaa jaataa hai, (2) 'Let' ko 'Should' se badalaa jaataa hai. 'Should' Pronoun ke baad aataa hai. aur (3) vaakya ke dono bhaago ko joDane ke liye 'That' shabd lagaayaa jaataa hai.

Yadi 'Let' aagyaa, aadesh ke bhaav ko vyakt kareN to (1) 'Said To' ko 'Requested To / Ordered To' se badalaa jaataa hai, (2) 'Let' vaakya meiN reh sakataa hai yaa 'Let' shabd ko 'Allow' se badalaa jaataa hai aur (3) vaakya ke dono bhaago ko joDane ke liye 'To' shabd lagaayaa jaataa hai.

'Let' waale vaakya meiN yadi shart yaa kalpanaa hai to (1) 'Said To' ko 'Told To' se badalaa jaataa hai, (2) 'Let' ko 'Might' se badalaa jaataa hai aur (3) vaakya ke dono bhaago ko joDane ke liye 'That' shabd lagaayaa jaataa hai.

Direct Anushka ne Omav se kahaa, "Aaiye picture dekhane jaay." Anushka said to Omav, "Let us go to see a movie."
Indirect Anushka ne Omav ko sujhaav diyaa ki ve picture dekhane jaay. Anushka proposed to Omav that they should go to see a movie.
Direct Manjula ne mujhase kahaa, "Aao aaj carromkheleN." Manjula said to me, "Let us play carrom today".
Indirect Manjula ne prastaav rakhaa ki aao aaj carromkheleN. Manjula proposed to me that we should play carrom that day.
Direct Usane apanee bahan se kahaa, "Use pahale apanee paDhaai pooree karane do." She said to her sister, "Let him complete his study first."
Indirect Usane apanee bahan ko sujhaav diyaa ki use pahale apanee paDhaai pooree karane de. She suggested her sister that he should complete his study first.
Direct Usane kahaa, "Aaiye kuchh minute intajaar kareN aur baad meiN dobaaraa prayaas kareN." He said, "Let us wait a few minutes and try again later".
Indirect Usane sujhaav diyaa ki ve kuchh minute intajaar kareN aur baad meiN dobaaraa prayaas kareN. He suggested that they should wait a few minutes and try again later.
Direct Kanika ne kahaa, "Mujhe do chocolate lene do". Kanika said, "Let me take two chocolates".
Indirect Kanika ne abhilaashaa kee ki use do chocolate lene de. Kanika wished that she should take two chocolates.
Direct Jai ne apane adhyaapak se kahaa, "Mujhe aaj ghar jaldee jaane do." Jai said to his teacher, "Let me go home early today".
Indirect Jai ne apane adhyaapak se nivedan kiyaa ki us din use ghar jaldee jaane de. Jai requested his teacher to let him go early that day. OR Jai requested his teacher to allow him to go early that day.
Direct Manager ne apanee PA se kahaa, "Ladako ko andar aane do." The Manager said to his PA, "Let the boys come in."
Indirect Manager ne apanee PA ko aadesh diyaa ki laDako ko andar aane de. The Manager ordered the PA to let the boys come in.
Direct Party karyakartaao ne netaa se kahaa, "Hame hamaare samarthako par kuchh maharbaani karane do." Party workers said to the Leader, "Let us do some favour to our supporters".
Indirect Party karyakartaao ne netaa se nivedan kiyaa ki unheN unake samarthako par kuchh maharbaani karane de. Party workers requested to the leader to let them (OR allow them) do some favour to their supporters.
Direct Neeta ne Yogesh se kahaa, "Use mehnat se paDhaai karane do jisase vah kakshaa mein pratham aa sake." Neeta said to Yogesh, "Let him study hard so that he can top the class."
Indirect Neeta ne Yogesh se kahaa ki kakshaa mein pratham aa sakataa hai agar vah use mehnat karane kaa avsar de. Neeta told Yogesh that he might top the class if he lets him work hard.


Direct Usane Ramesh se kahaa, "Use chatur banane do parantu vah tumase shreshth nahee ban sakataa hai." He said to Ramesh, "Let him be smart but he cannot excel you."
Indirect Usane Ramesh se kahaa ki vah chatur bane parantu vah usase shreshth nahee ban sakataa hai. He told Ramesh that he might be smart but he cannot excel him.
Direct Usane mujhase kahaa, "Mujhe Vartika aur Avyan ke liye kuchh kapaDe lene do." She said to me, "Let me buy some clothes for Vartika and Avyan."
Indirect Usane mujhase kahaa ki use Vartika aur Avyan ke liye kuchh kapaDe lene dooN. She told me to let her buy some clothes for Vartika and Avyan.
Indirect Usane mujhase nivedan kiyaa ki use Vartika aur Avyan ke liye kuchh kapaDe lene dooN. She requested me to allow her to buy some clothes for Vartika and Avyan.
