ELC-34th Day - चौंतीसवाँ दिन

34th Day - After Tense and Active Passive, Direct & Indirect is the most important part of English Language. Today also we will continue Direct Indirect.
We can report any Speech to another person either in the same words (known as Direct Speech or Direct Narration) OR report the speech in our words without changing the meaning (known as Indirect Speech or Indirect Narration).

Direct Indirect Speech - Exclamatory Sentences

Sentence that express strong feeling or emotions (like joy, sorrow, surprise, hatred, contempt, etc) are called exclamatory sentences. Exclamatory sentence ends with exclamation mark (!).

वह वाक्य जो प्रबल अहसास या भावनाओं की अभिव्यक्ति करे, विस्मयादिबोधक वाक्य कहलाता है । विस्मयादिबोधक वाक्यो के अन्त में exclamation मार्क(!) आता है ।

Rule no. 1

For making Indirect Speech of Exclamatory Sentence, 'Said' of Reporting Verb is changed according to the emotion of the 'Exclamatory Word' of Reporting Speech. A list of such words is given below.

In case there is a desire or wish in the sentence (If I were you, If I were...), 'Said' is replaced with word 'Wished'.

यदि वाक्य में कोई इच्छा या कामना हो (यदि मैं...होता) तो 'Said' के स्थान पर 'Wished' का प्रयोग किया जाता है ।

Rule no. 2

The words 'What' & 'How' of Reporting Speech are replaced with words 'Very' Or 'Great'. 'Very' comes before Adjective and 'Great' comes before Noun.

Reporting Speech के शब्द 'What' और 'How' को 'Very' या 'Great' शब्द से बदला जाता है । 'Very' Adjective से पहले और 'Great' Noun से पहले आता है ।
