General Part: Forms of Verbs, Antonyms, One Word Substitutes, General Vocabulary and Short Sentences

Degrees of Adjectives

हमने Adjectives के बारे में जान लिया है। विशेषण वे शब्द हैं जो संज्ञा या सर्वनाम का वर्णन या विशेषता बताने के लिए उपयोग किए जाते हैं। सरल शब्दों में, किसी व्यक्ति के लिए हम विशेषण शब्दों के द्वारा या तो उसकी प्रशंसा करते हैं या उसकी आलोचना करते हैं। We have learned about adjectives. Adjectives are words used to describe or qualify a noun or pronoun. In simple words, we either praise or criticize a person by using adjective words for him.
अक्सर हम एक व्यक्ति के लिए अधिक प्रशंसा करते हैं और दूसरे के लिए कम। कभी-कभी हम एक व्यक्ति की तुलना दूसरे से करते हैं और कभी-कभी हम कहते हैं कि वह सबसे अच्छा है। Often we admire more for one person and less for another. Sometimes we compare one person to another and sometimes we say that he is the best.
उदाहरण: वह एक बोल्ड लड़की है। वह प्रिया से बोल्ड है। वह अपनी कक्षा की सबसे बोल्ड लड़की है। Examples: She is a bold girl. She is bolder than Priya. She is the boldest girl in her class.
हम दो व्यक्तियों की तुलना करने और प्रशंसा के स्तर को बढ़ाने और घटाने के लिए विशेषण के रूप को बदलते हैं। जैसे - bold, bolder, boldest. We change the form of the adjective to compare two persons and to increase and decrease the level of praise. e.g. bold, bolder, boldest

Degrees of Comparison

The literal meaning of Degree in English is a mark, grade, level, unit of measurement, etc. Everyone is aware of the word Degree to check the level of body temperature. In grammar, we use the measure of the Degree to compare the quantity or quality of two nouns. As seen above, we change the form of the adjective for comparison. Changing the form of an adjective to compare one noun to another is called the degree of comparison of the adjective.

Forms of Degrees

There are three forms of Degrees:

1 Positive Degree
2 Comparative Degree
3 Superlative Degree
